#MidWeekTease where Lottie is still very grotty
Welcome to this week's #MidWeekTease
Which is taken from my next #romcom, working title The Transformation of Lottie Botte, and due out next year...
Really excited about this one. We met Lottie in New Beginnings for Bryony Bennett where to put it politely she is not very nice. Or to be honest and not so polite, a right old bitch.
Now she's had a shock and is trying to turn over a new leaf. Which is easier than it sounds...
And just to give you an idea...
Hope that whets your appetite...

She hoped nobody recognised her.
How dare they?
The caption on the picture was as humiliating as the photo itself.
Local paper?
Local load of nothing better to do than embarrass upright citizens
who knew—normally—how to comport themselves.
And it wasn’t my fault.
The horrendous headline.
“Lottie shows her Bottie.”
Then that awful picture of her in her underwear with her dress
ripped and caught on a nail...
And the even worse stupid ditty. For goodness sake, it wasn’t even
grammatically correct.
“Lottie Botte,
Showed a lot.
Ripped her dress on a nail,
Tugged to no avail.
The dress stayed caught,
Lottie was fraught.
And then it tore.
She turned scarlet, swore
and swore.
Her holdy-in knickers went from
bust to thigh.
Showing them off, might
explain why.”
The scandal sheet Dario, her brother worked for. He must have known,
and hadn’t thought to warn her. Or even threaten the journalists and make them pull
the article. If Dario, had been anywhere in the vicinity she’d give him a piece
of her mind. Probably better for him he wasn’t, Lottie could strip leather with
her sarcasm if she put her mind to it. Or without much thought when she really
tried.
The bugger. What happened to family solidarity?
Never mind she wasn’t exactly on friendly terms with Dario, not
since he met the woman Lottie blamed for everything, but that wasn’t the point.
He should have done something. It reflected badly on their family, didn’t it?
She refused to admit that in actual fact their family
name—Monk—wasn’t mentioned, that wasn’t the point. He had done nothing about
the article, or warn her.
Lottie glanced around. No one paid the slightest interest to her.
Why would they? She didn’t usually frequent this supermarket—too downmarket for
her—and she was dressed as unlike her normal attire as possible. Sniggering,
nudging, locals had brought her to this.
And Bryony Bennett of course.
Hope that whets your appetite...
