#MidWeekTease where Guido wonders what the...?

Hi again. It's #MidWeekTease time This week, I'm taking you all to my favourite city in the world. Hong Kong. Where Rachel has gone with Guido and Guido is not a happy bloke. Guido shook her awake. ‘I have coffee. You have a red cheek where your kindle has rested whilst you slept. It makes you look cute.’ ‘Cute? Like a kitten or something? Yuk.’ She moved her kindle to one side. Guido took it from her and placed it on the bedside table. ‘Not the best way to sleep.’   ‘True enough.’ Rachel struggled up onto her elbows and wriggled back to rest her head on the headboard. ‘I must have dropped off. The last thing I remember is reading the prologue.’   ‘So exciting it sent you to sleep?’   She laughed and wished she didn’t have bed hair or sleep breath. ‘That’s probably the jet lag.’   Then I wish I could let you sleep longer but you would not sleep tonight if I did. And you have an appointment with Miss Tu in an hour.’ He sat on the edge of t...

#MidWeekTease.... with a mock up and a sigh...

Hello again, welcome to #MidWeekTease... a short one today... (From my WIP, The Italian Count's Contrary Wife) Guido has had the locks on the apartment changed. 'Now let’s see how this new system works. Once we are in I can change the settings and we will also use thumbprint recognition. Doubly safe.’ ‘Hmm.’ Rachel wasn’t so sure. ‘Every time I try to use that on my phone it never recognises it. I end up having to key the security number in anyway.’ ‘We’ll see. For now though, this is it.’ Guido dealt with the new entry system with swift efficiency, and opened the door. To sidestep over a large envelope with Rachel’s name on it. ‘Anyone know you are here, Cara? Someone who has had no need to put an address or sender on the envelope?’ Rachel shook her head. ‘I didn’t know where we were stopping, which reminds me I best text my neighbour to let her know.’   ‘Where you are?’ Guido fingered the seal on the package as Rachel nodded. ‘Then you...

#MidWeekTease with Lottie admitting something

Hello again. Weirdly I can get into my photos on here but not on my Raven blog. What is the universe trying to tell me? Anyhow while I can, and before I'm jinxed here as well, here's this week's #MidWeekTease Where Lottie tells it all (well nearly) ‘I’m going to cuss the fact I’m carless for a few days I guess, but hey ho. The new me will bite her lip and put up with it.’ Gibb asked the question he was dying to know the answer to. ‘What was the old you then?’ He watched her take a deep breath. ‘A snotty, grotty, up her own self, harridan. I’m not allowed to say cow because my I’m told that’s derogatory to cows. Mind you, I guess bitch falls under the same heading. Let’s say, I was full of my own self importance and didn’t suffer fools or indeed most other people gladly. In my defence I could say I reckon a psychiatrist would have a field day and say something like I was miserable, unhappy with my life and projected that misery onto other...

#MIdWeekTease in Hong Kong... with coffee...not in the cup...

Image
Hi all, Welcome to #MidWeekTease. I'm about 20K into my next book, set in my favourite city in the word, Hong Kong, so my tease is from there. Blurb... When Guido stated he didn't want her, and never would, Rachel left. Now Guido has hunted her down to explain what had happened and to ask for her help. Dare she believe him or is she opening herself up to heartbreak again? Your #MidWeekTease The door to the apartment opened and she swung around in surprise, the coffee in her cup sloshing dangerously near the rim. The taller than average, curvy and elegant woman dressed in clothes that screamed ‘designer’ who stood in front of Rachel looked her up and down with contempt. Oh dear oh dear. Makes my jeans and t look as if I’m about to go scrubbing floors. She waited to see what on earth this visitation was all about. And of course who the woman was. ‘Does Guido know the servants drink his coffee?’ The voice was a mid Atlantic twang, so at odds with her appea...

#MidWeekTease with Lottie and a man who understands cars.

Image
Hi again. As I'm rereading, adding and deleting to #LottiesStory, this week's #MidWeekTease comes from there. (unedited) As she got into her car and turned the ignition it made a death rattle, wheezed and went silent. Thank goodness for the car assistance people. The friendly guy who appeared a couple of hours after she’d rung the help line had apologised for the delay, told her to call him Mike, and accepted a cup of coffee with pleasure. He explained there had been a lot of cars in need of help on the motorway. ‘Too hot for them,’ he said cheerfully. ‘Their owners forgot they needed extra water and so on in this weather. So they suffered.’ His phraseology tickled Lottie as she imagined the actual cars ringing up and asking for someone to come and speak to them as a or b wasn’t happy, and the people they let sit in them were useless. ‘What’s it like living in one of these chalet places then?’ Mike asked as he drained his coffee mug? ‘Any roo...
